Katie pursued counseling as a career after years of returning to one core value: helping others. Katie has worked in several college settings from advising Honors students to working with adult learners obtaining their GED. In one way or another, Katie has consistently been drawn to helping people figure out what is important to them and how to build a life around those priorities. When she returned to school after obtaining undergraduate degrees in English literature and music performance, Katie was overjoyed to find a career where she could help others find clarity and hope.
Katie’s therapeutic approach is humanistic and existential; it is rooted in warmth, relationship building, and finding meaning in life. She specializes in working with LGBTQIA+ folks, depression, anxiety, and navigating life transitions of all kinds. She also holds training in I-CBT (inferential cognitive behavioral therapy) and DBT (dialectical behavioral therapy). Katie has experience both in college campus mental health as well as community oriented mental health settings.
