Stephanie Portwood, PLMHP

Stephanie is a dedicated mental health therapist with experience in helping individuals with anxiety, depression, PTSD, grief and loss, performance anxiety, trauma, and ADHD. Drawing on a foundation of empathy and clinical training, she utilizes a combination of Narrative Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques to empower clients on their healing journeys.

Stephanie received her bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science at Brigham Young University while playing on their nationally ranked women’s soccer team. Through her experience in sports and her experience with the lack of mental health professionals for athletes, she chose to continue her education at the University of Nebraska Omaha, where she earned a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. During her studies, Stephanie developed a specific interest in therapeutic approaches that empower clients to rewrite their narratives and cultivate healthier thought patterns.

In her professional practice, Stephanie has gained valuable experience working with children, adolescents, young adults, and adult populations facing a range of mental health challenges. Through compassionate listening and evidence-based interventions, she supports clients in identifying and reframing negative thought patterns that contribute to their distress. Whether addressing trauma, navigating life transitions, or managing stress-related issues, Stephanie collaborates closely with clients to foster resilience and promote emotional well-being.

Outside of her clinical work, Stephanie continues to expand her expertise through ongoing professional development and training in therapeutic modalities. She is committed to staying abreast of the latest research and best practices in mental health care, ensuring her clients receive the highest standard of care.

In her spare time, Stephanie enjoys being in nature, biking, hiking, weightlifting, yoga, and spending time with her family, which she finds crucial for maintaining her own well-being and perspective.

Stephanie is passionate about creating a supportive and non-judgmental therapeutic environment where clients can explore their challenges, discover their strengths, and ultimately, achieve greater fulfillment in their lives.
