Stef McAlpin, PLMHP

Stef’s journey into the counseling profession has been rich with experiences. After spending 25 years in education, she has a solid foundation for her work as a therapist. Stef empathetically provides her clients with a safe space to process life’s challenges. She is a compassionate facilitator, listening with empathy, while validating every client’s experience. Stef uses an integrative approach, coupled with a person-centered therapy focus. Having worked in both schools as well as in private practice, Stef has experience collaborating with children, teenagers, parents, and educators. Making sure that parents and caregivers are involved with a therapeutic treatment plan is one of Stef’s core beliefs as a therapist. This work can be life changing for the family.


Her specialties include Grief, Anxiety, Depression, ADHD, Parent-Child Relationships, Self Esteem issues, and Emotional Regulation. Stef combines elements of art and play with interventions from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. She has a strong passion for helping those who are experiencing grief and loss. The grief journey is personal and unique to each person. Even in the darkest bouts of grief, one can find new meaning in loss. Her grace and inner spirit lets her walk that journey with her clients.

Stef holds a Bachelor's Degree in Special Education and Elementary Education. She earned her Masters in Counseling from the University of Nebraska Omaha. Stef is a Certified School Counselor and a Provisionally Licensed Mental Health Practitioner.
